Our Hair Story Empowerment and Education Hair Workshop

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!! You can click the Eventbrite link to join the waitlist for our next Hair Workshop.

If you live in the KW region and have been struggling with or wanting to learn more about maintaining, understanding or embracing your child's or your own natural hair, than this is the workshop for you! We are so excited to present this workshop in partnership with Beauty Club Outlet, Black Girl Excellence and the Kinbridge Community Association to help the families in the KW region take care of, celebrate and flourish their natural hair.

Featuring three incredible stylists, this day will consist of two workshops and one seminar that will take place at the end of each workshop. We will be offering complimentary lunch, as well as door prizes, complimentary products, local braiders and more. The details of the workshops are as follows:

10:00 AM: Workshop #1 - Wash-Day Workshop

In this workshop, families will be able to view two of our stylists and natural hair educators perform a wash-day wash and go and twist out on two different younger models with curly and natural hair. Families and naturals will be able to ask questions and learn more about the proper technique around shampooing, conditioning, detangling, styling and night-time and next-morning routines.

12:15 PM: Lunch & Community Connection

During this time, lunch will be provided and attendees will have an opportunity to connect with some local braiders, connect with one another and learn more about Black Girl Excellence, Beauty Club Outlet, the Kinbridge Association and Rhythm & Blues Cambridge.

1:30 PM: Workshop #2 - Braiding and Twisting Hands-On Tutorial

In this workshop, our 3rd stylist will be walking participants through the basics of parting, twisting and braiding, and participants will be able to have hands-on practice with human hair mannequins.

11:15 AM & 2:30 PM: Self-Love Seminars (after each workshop)

In this seminar, registered psychotherapist Nicole Faulknor will conduct a self-love seminar providing resources around how to help you or your child navigate the discrimination, bullying, and lack of societal acceptance that they face due to their hair texture.

Please register for each workshop individually, as we will need to prepare for the number of people in attendance. As this event is complimentary, please only register once you are sure of your attendance, and please de-register if you become unable to attend at a later date.

We hope you can come out and enjoy a day of community, education, and natural haircare empowerment!
