Position: Communications and Marketing Coordinator – Event and Program Support

Compensation: $21.00/hour

Employment Type: Full-Time (30 hours per week)

About the Role

Rhythm & Blues Cambridge is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications and

Marketing Coordinator – Event and Program Support to play a key role in the planning

and promotion of our 2025 Emancipation Day Celebration. This position is ideal for

someone passionate about storytelling, digital engagement, and community connection.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with our team to elevate our brand, engage our

audience, and support programming initiatives, including summer camps. If you’re

enthusiastic about marketing, community building, and cultural celebration, we’d love to

Key Responsibilities

● Develop and execute marketing strategies for the 2025 Emancipation Day

events.

● Manage and grow our social media presence in collaboration with our social

media team.

● Create engaging content to build awareness and excitement around our events.

● Build and maintain relationships with community partners, sponsors, and media

outlets.

● Assist in crafting press releases, email campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and

promotional materials.

● Identify and cultivate potential sponsors and donors.

● Provide support in coordinating and facilitating summer programs and camps as

needed.

Note: While the primary focus is on communications and event promotion, some

support for programming will be required throughout the summer. This role may involve

non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

What We’re Looking For

Education:

Currently enrolled in a college or university program in marketing, communications,

public relations, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

● Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn).

● Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.

● Comfortable with email communication, online research, and web-based tools.

Experience:

● Experience in communications, marketing, or social media is an asset but not

required.

● 1–3 years of experience working in a culturally diverse environment is preferred.

Soft Skills:

● Strong written and verbal communication skills.

● Creative thinker with a flair for innovation.

● Passionate about Black histories and community engagement.

● Team-oriented with excellent collaboration skills.

● Detail-oriented and highly organized.

Working Conditions

● Primarily remote work, with occasional in-person meetings and event attendance.

● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

● Local travel may be required; access to reliable transportation is occasionally necessary.

● A police vulnerable sector check will be required.
