Youth Program Assistant- $21 per hour 30hrs per week

This Youth Program Assistant position provides a wide range of support services to the Rhythm & Blues Cambridge team. The Youth Program Assistant role will mainly focus on supporting Art From the Heart, the Black Girl Excellence Empowerment and Wellness Summer Camp, the Black Excellence Be Prepared Summer Camp, and our Emancipation Day Celebration. 

Major Responsibilities

Key Responsibility Areas

  •  Assisting with youth program delivery/ supporting youth with activity  completions

  •  Assisting with program monitoring, feedback and evaluations 

  •  A strong commitment to client-centred anti-oppressive services

  •  Assists with administrative support 

  •  Provides program support 

  •  Support coordinating volunteers for events and activities 

  •  Helps resolve administrative problems and inquiries

  •  Prepares written responses to routine enquiries via email, social media

  •  Support current social media platforms

  •  Helps maintain summer camp supply inventories

Qualifications
Education

  • One year in recent related experience including proven community outreach and working with youth

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent 

  • First aid certification (preferred)

Experience

  •  Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience working in a culturally diverse  environment

  •  Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector

Computer Skills

  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Acrobat

  •  Excellent  with and adaptable to various technologies used in communication (e.g.,  social media- instagram, facebook, eventbrite, canva)

  •  Proficiency in email usage, online research, and other web-based technologies

Soft Skills

  •  Strong organisational and analytical skills

  •  High attention to detail

  •  Problem solving and multitasking abilities

  •  Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Strong listening, time management and negotiation skills

  • Well developed interpersonal and relationship building skills

Working Conditions

  • This position is typically performed working remotely, however some in person meetings, and attendance at in person events are required. 

  • Flexibility to be able to work in the community when required on evenings and weekends.

  • Travel may be required – typically within the local community. Access to reliable transportation is required on occasion.

  • A police vulnerable sector record check will be required.

Program Facilitator- $25 per hour 30hrs per week

We are seeking a dynamic Program Facilitator to join our team. As a Program Facilitator, you will be responsible for leading and facilitating various programs and workshops within the school system and broader Cambridge/Waterloo Region community. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and with various online tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate engaging programs and workshops for diverse audiences.

  • Develop and deliver program content, including presentations, activities, and discussions.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and other online tools to create and manage program materials.

  • Collaborate with team members to plan and coordinate program logistics.

  • Provide support and guidance to program participants, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.

  • Evaluate program effectiveness and gather participant feedback for continuous improvement.

  • Maintain accurate program records and documentation.

  • Stay updated on best practices and trends in program facilitation and technology tools.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in program facilitation, preferably in a community or educational setting.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with various online collaboration tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing program needs and schedules.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.

    Working Conditions

Rhythm and Blues Cambridge currently does not have a physical location. Workshops and programs are mainly held in Cambridge but could also take place throughout Waterloo Region. In addition, there are occasionally in person meetings, events and activities. This role will occasionally work evenings and weekends to accommodate Rhythm and Blues Cambridge activities. 

This role is hybrid and will require some work from home and within the community.

A police vulnerable sector record check is required before commencement of employment.
